The Temples of Mandi is a study of the temple architecture and sculpture of
a picturesque temple town situated in Himachal Pradesh. The historical
processes that were at work in this one-time capital of the princely state
of Mandi are concisely delineated as are the polity of the ancient state, the
social patterns, and the central role that religion played in the lives of the
common people. For it is essential to understand the diverse influences

lying as it did along a trade route. Based on extensive fieldwork, this

Regrettably, the ravages of time, neglect, and vandalism have taken
a toll on our cultural heritage, leaving few monuments intact.
