Ümit Hussein is a British translator of Turkish Cypriot origin, born in London. She has an MA in Literary Translation from the University of East Anglia and has translated notable authors like Nevin Halıcı and Ahmet Altan. Her translation of Burhan Sömez’s Istanbul Istanbul won the 2018 EBRD Literature Prize.
