R. Ranganath Prasad is an English translator best known for his translations of acclaimed Kannada novelist S. L. Bhyrappa. His work includes Brink (translated from Anchu) and Scion (a translation of Bhyrappa’s classic Vamshavrishka), bringing major works of Kannada literature to a wider readership.
A commerce graduate, Prasad worked in a public sector bank before taking up literary translation.
Through his translations, he has contributed to the accessibility of modern Indian literary classics across languages, with a focus on preserving narrative texture and cultural context in English.
