Nilakshi Borgohain received her education in Shillong, Delhi University, and the Kochi Institute of Management Studies. She contributed features to reputed magazines and wrote book reviews for journals, including the 'Indian Literature' (Sahitya Akademi). Nilakshi also has short story collections to her credit. Her extensive travels abroad as well as within the country have greatly shaped her as a writer who can write on the local cultures that occupy an integral part of her works. She has been awarded the Editor's Choice award in 2010 for creative/critical writing by the 'Home of Letters (India)'—international publishers of books and journals.
