Kunal Basu is the author of four critically acclaimed novels (The Opium Clerk;
The Miniaturist; Racists; The Yellow Emperor's Cure), and a collection of
stories The Japanese Wife the title story of which has been made into an award-winning film. He has written poetry and screenplays; acted in films and on stage. He was born in Kolkata and teaches at Oxford University.
