Krishnagopal Mallick
Krishnagopal Mallick was a Bengali writer whose work is noted for its bold engagement with themes of identity, desire and social marginality. Writing in the early twentieth century, he produced some of the earliest known queer fiction in Bengali literature. His stories, many of which were considered radical for their time, offer rare and important insights into non-normative lives in colonial-era India. Today, Mallick is recognised as a pioneering voice in South Asian queer literary history.
