Gyan Chaturvedi

After Harishankar Parsai and Sharad Joshi, it is Gyan Chaturvedi’s trailblazing writing, story-telling, literary experimentation and craft that has given Hindi satire new heights, novel direction and a unique identity. He has published six popular novels, twelve satire collections, more than a thousand short satire articles and stories, as well as regular satire columns in publications such as Kathadesh, India Today, Dainik Bhaskar, Rajasthan Patrika, and others. His writings show that the subject matter of satirical writing need not just hover over political topics, but can also originate from family life, human relationships, profound spiritual sensitivities, market conflicts and deep contradictions of social fabric. A Padma Shri (2015) recipient for his contribution to Hindi literature, Dr Chaturvedi has also received Vyas Samman (2022) from the K.K. Birla Foundation, Atta Galatta Award for 2021 ‘Best Indian Fiction of the Year’ of Bangalore Literary Festival, Katha Samman of Valley of Words Lit Fest, Dehradun (2019), Yash Bharti Award of Uttar Pradesh government (2015), among others. A cardiologist by profession, Gyan Chaturvedi lives in Bhopal with his wife and a son and a daughter.
