Eberhard Fischer
Dr. Eberhard Fischer is an art historian and cultural anthropologist. Until recently, he held the position of senior director at the Museum Rietberg in Zurich. His journey in India began in 1965 when he embarked on a teaching assignment at the National Institute of Design (NID) in Ahmedabad. From that point forward, he maintained a continuous presence in India, working in various regions from Gujarat to Orissa, and from Himachal Pradesh to Kerala. Throughout his career, Dr. Fischer collaborated with eminent Indian scholars and artists, including Haku Shah, Prof. Jyotindra Jain, Dr. Dinanath Pathy, Prof. B. N. Goswamy, Balan Nambiar, and Vijay Sharma, on joint exhibitions and publication projects. In recognition of his contributions, he was honored with the Padma Shri award in 2012.
