Balaji Thakur
Balaji Thakur is a widely respected Indian photographer, photojournalist, and visual storyteller whose work has shaped the visual language of contemporary Indian reportage. With a career spanning several decades, he has worked across documentary, news, travel, and portrait photography, capturing some of the most significant social, cultural, and political moments in modern India. He has served as the Chief Photographer of India Today and has contributed extensively to leading national and international publications. Known for his sharp eye, narrative depth, and humane approach, Thakur’s photographs go beyond reportage to offer powerful insights into people and places. In addition to his work behind the camera, he is also an author and mentor, deeply committed to preserving visual history and training the next generation of photographers.
