Ayesha Siddiqa
Ayesha Siddiqa is a Pakistani political scientist, academic, and widely respected commentator on South Asian politics and civil–military relations. Her research focuses on the role of the military in Pakistan’s political economy, state institutions, and democratic development. She has been associated with the SOAS South Asia Institute, where her work has examined governance, security, and the interaction between power, policy, and the armed forces in Pakistan. Siddiqa is best known for her influential scholarship on military dominance in civilian life, which has made her an important voice in debates on democracy, accountability, and regional stability. Through both academic writing and public commentary, she continues to shape discussions on politics, power, and reform in South Asia.
