Anita Bharat Shah obtained herย PhD from Osmania University, inย 1994. She has been active in theย Museology Committee (ICOFOM) ofย the International Council of Museumsย (ICOM) since 1987 and served manyย years on its Executive Board.Dr Shah has taught at several universitiesย abroad as a visiting faculty of Museology.ย She has previously authored Visitors toย South Indian Museums: Museological Contextย and Visitor Study as well as publishedย extensively in the museological journalย ICOFOM Study Series.She has conducted extensive researchย on kalamkari, Deccani and Rajasthaniย paintings and pichvais from 2013 to 2022.ย An avid collector of Indian textiles andย art objects, she has organized manyย exhibitions, including a special displayย of Ancient Indian Textiles for Queenย Elizabeth during her visit to Hyderabadย in 1983. She and her husband Bharatย Shah, creators of the AABHA collection,ย organized an exhibition titled ยThreadsย of Devotionย showcasing embroideredย pichvais from Kutch and Rajasthan ofย the early 19th to mid-20th centuries atย the Nirmala Birla Modern Art Museum,ย Hyderabad, in 2021. She lives with herย family in Hyderabad.
