Anita Bharat Shah

Anita Bharat Shah earned her PhD from Osmania University, Hyderabad, and has been actively engaged with global museology for over three decades. A long-standing member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), she has served on the Executive Board of its Museology Committee and contributed extensively to the ICOFOM Study Series. Her book Visitors to South Indian Museums examines how museums shape memory, identity, ethics, and restitution within Indian contexts. She is also the author of Colours of Devotion, a seminal study of Vallabha Sampradaya paintings and textiles, based on extensive research on pichvais, Kalamkari, and devotional art traditions. A passionate collector, she co-founded the ABBHA Collection and curated Threads of Devotion at the Nirmala Birla Modern Art Museum.
