Amiya Dev was a Professor of Comparative Literature at Jadavpur University in Kolkata. He had a prolific body of work in both Bengali and English, covering topics such as Rabindranath Tagore's influence and legacy, literary interrelations, and literary culture. Additionally, he served as an editor and co-editor for several volumes, including "Science, Literature and Aesthetics" and "Tagore and China." Furthermore, he held the position of Vice-President of the International Comparative Literature Association and served as the Vice-Chancellor of Vidyasagar University.
