Brigadier Behram M. Panthaki commanded the 2nd Battalion of the 8th Gorkha Rifles, served as Brigade Major, HQ 161 Infantry Brigade in J&K, was Colonel General Staff, HQ 3 Infantry Division in Ladakh, commanded 35 Infantry Brigade in Delhi and was Brigadier General Staff, HQ 12 Corps in Rajasthan. Theassignment he values most is as Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to General Sam Manekshaw. Zenobia Panthaki had a close association with Sam and his wife, Silloo, and was witness to many events described in this book.

ब्रिगेडियर बेहराम एम. पंथकी ने 8वीं गोरखा राइफल्स की दूसरी बटालियन को कमांड किया, बतौर जम्मू और कश्मीर में 161 इन्फैंट्री ब्रिगेड मुख्यालय में ब्रिगेड मेजर रहे। वे लद्दाख़ में 3 इन्फैंट्री डिवीज़न मुख्यालय में कर्नल जनरल स्टाफ रहे। दिल्ली में 35 इन्फैंट्री ब्रिगेड को कमांड किया और राजस्थान में 12 कॉर जनरल स्टाफ़ के ब्रिगेडियर जनरल स्टाफ़ रहे। उन्होंने सेना मुख्यालय में पद-नियुक्तियों का काम सँभाला तथा वॉर कॉलेज माहो और डिफेंस सर्विस स्टाफ़ कॉलेज वेलिंगटन में प्रशिक्षण दिया। उनके लिए सबसे महत्वपूर्ण कार्य सेना अध्यक्ष के ए डी सी के रूप में काम करना रहा। इस कार्य के दौरान, उन्होंने सैम के विशिष्ट व्यक्तित्व को क़रीब से देखा तथा उच्च स्तर पर योजनाओं को बनाने और फ़ैसले लेना सीखा। वह अब वाशिंगटन डी सी में रहते हैं और किंगस्बरी सेंटर मानव संस्थान के निदेशक भी रहे हैं।

Zenobia Panthaki began her career with IBM after graduating from Delhi University. Since Behram was ADC to General Manekshaw, she had a close association with Sam and his wife, Silloo, and was witness to many events described in this book. In 1984 she joined the World Bank where she worked until her retirement in 2012. She currently lives in Washington DC and consults for the Bank.

ज़िनोबिया पंथकी ने दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय से स्नातक करने के बाद आई बी एम से अपना कैरियर शुरू किया। 1973 से 1984 तक उन्होंने पारिवारिक ज़िम्मेदारियाँ निभाईं। फिर 1984 में उन्होंने विश्व बैंक में काम करना शुरू किया। 1994 में उनका स्थानांतरण अमेरिका में हो गया। वर्ष 2012 में वहाँ से सेवानिवृत्त हुईं और आज भी वे उनके परामर्शदात्री के रूप में काम कर रही हैं। मौजूदा समय में वह वाशिंगटन डी सी में रहती हैं।
